Show Recap: Natural Products West Expo Virtual 2021

InsightsNow at the Natural Products West Expo Virtual 2021

Throughout the pandemic, InsightsNow has been participating in the new Natural Products Expo ongoing Spark Change events and this last week we attended their larger virtual experience called Natural Products Expo West Virtual. We were able to view brands’ products and content, request samples and attend online education sessions.

State of Natural and Organic Panel Discussion

On Tuesday, May 25th, we caught an “information-packed session highlighting product trends and retail insights” to inform the year ahead from a strategic standpoint called “State of Natural and Organic.” The speakers included Rachelle Radcliffe (KeHE Distributors), Sashee Chandran (Tea Drops), Carlotta Mast (New Hope Network), Kathryn Peters (SPINS), and Jeremiah McElwee (Thrive Market) who covered product innovation trends and the conversations driving change in this industry. Some of the topics we found especially pertinent and interesting were about plant-based meat and dairy alternatives market share growth, as well as the growth of the organic foods and products industry. The talk also explored the increase in supplement usage and wellness products during the past year. One topic included functional ingredients in food, something we’ve explored in many different studies. To learn more about what we have discovered in relation to this topic, view our webinar: “Consumer Perceptions of Functional Ingredients in Food & Beverages.

Trends and Innovations in Natural Products

On Wednesday, May 26th, our team dropped in on a talk called “Discover Pantry Staples: Trends & Innovative Products.” We heard from some industry experts Amanda Hartt and Adrienne Smith with New Hope Network with Jeff Crumpton and Scott Dicker with SPINS, LLC about trend insights and innovative market manifestations. Attendees learned what’s happening today with pantry staples in the aisle and what will drive retail sales in the future. Some of the topics covered were big-picture macro forces and trends driving consumer interest. Speakers talked about the categories and product attributes driving retail sales.

The Natural Products Expo shows and Spark Change events will continue to happen and we hope to see you there.
