Job Description
Apply statistics in the field of marketing research serving as an internal consultant to research managers, research consultants, and R&D staff and as an external consultant directly to clients. Applications of statistics may cover all phases of research projects including research design, data collection, data analysis, report writing and presentation of findings.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist research team members in the applications of statistics to design research.
  • Plan and coordinate data delivery schedules for research projects.
  • Provide non-routine data analyses on consumer product research data.
  • Customize Excel, PowerPoint and Word tables and graphics to achieve client ready, presentation quality views.
  • Assist research team members in the interpretation of data analyses.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Work with mathematicians and software developers in the research and development of new statistical algorithms and the implementation of those algorithms into research deliverables.
  • Write technical white papers (publication opportunities) and give technical presentations.
Required Qualifications

  • Hypothesis testing (Analysis of Variance, Non-Parametric Testing, Analysis of Categorical Data).
  • Multiple linear regression modeling (Partial and Ordinary Least Squares Regression, Generalized Linear Modeling).
  • Multivariate data analysis and mapping (PCA, Factor Analysis, Discriminant Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Segmentation Analysis).
  • Design of experiments (Screening and Optimization designs for a mix of category and continuous variables, D-Optimal designs).
  • Optimization techniques.
  • Survey design and population estimation statistics.
  • Highly proficient and quick using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Learns new software programs quickly.
  • Self-starter highly motivated to learn.

Desired Qualifications

  • SAS and/or SPSS
  • Matlab
  • HTML or Jscript
  • Familiarity with SEM

Experience

No industry specific experience is required, however knowledge of sensory evaluation techniques, consumer product and marketing research methods, and marketing research volumetric forecasting are a plus.

Education

  • MS or Ph.D. in Statistics
  • MS or Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology, Consumer Psychology or Experimental Psychology, MBA with Marketing Research emphasis or equivalent and two or more years experience on the supplier or client side
