This year, homegrown firms including MyStrands, InsightsNow and Korvis have stood out

As always, one of the world’s largest New Year’s Eve parties will happen tonight in New York City, where Times Square will be packed with hundreds of thousands of revelers waiting for the ball to drop and 2008 to begin. And this year, a little company from Corvallis plans to be there in a big way….

Other Corvallis technology shops making a splash this year included InsightsNow and Korvis Automation, which ranked second and third in the Portland Business Journal’s annual list of Oregon’s fastest-growing private companies.

It was the first year in the rankings for InsightsNow, a high-tech market research firm, but the second for Korvis, a maker of automated manufacturing equipment that occupied the No. 2 slot last year.

From 2004 to 2006, InsightsNow grew from $811,000 in annual revenues and five employees to almost $5.3 million in revenue and 19 employees for a composite growth rate of 548 percent.

Korvis grew from $4.2 million in revenues to $23.1 million and from 15 employees to 46 in the same period, a 448 percent composite growth rate.

Both firms continued to grow in 2007….
